About us

It all started four years ago when we became fascinated by the untold history of Africa's shorelines and the peoples who lived there. Part of what triggered our interest was that we hail directly from the coastal Red Sea. What first started off as book reading and small discussions among friends, later grew into an ambition to play a role in representing our people’s history by merging it with our other great passion: our love for fashion.

When envisioning the beautiful traditional garments of our people, we imagined the colors glistening under the sun, traditional patterns flowing with the sand and a chance to tell a story in an untraditional way. This led us to take a leap of faith and combine our vision of Africa's shorelines and fashion with endless hours of hard work and dedication. The result? We created a one-of-a-kind beachwear company called Tribe 9.

Tribe 9 manufactures high-quality beachwear for men and women of all shapes and sizes. Our brand adds a modern twist to bold and luxurious traditional African textiles. Drawing inspiration from a range of diverse and multiethnic tribes, our line proudly introduces swimwear merged with traditional East African garments. Tribe 9 looks to incorporate the various fashion influences from countries across Africa in forthcoming collections.
